The Whites are back in action at Selhurst Park this afternoon.

No Fulham fan needs reminding of what Roy Hodgson and Ray Lewington did for the club in those three magic years that saw Whites go from Championship-side in waiting to European finalists. Enjoy the very best of those moments in this wonderful video made by Billy Murphy and presented to Hodgson by the Fulham Supporters’ Trust in 2012.

Roy and Ray will certainly be lauded by both sets of fans today – and, as we witnessed after last season’s win at Palace, Marco Silva’s a big fan too:

Here’s your stat attack:

  • This is the fiftieth meeting between Crystal Palace and Fulham in all competitions. Fulham have won 18, Palace 14 and there have been 17 draws – last of which was a 2-2 stalemate at Craven Cottage last season.
  • Fulham have won only one of the last seven Premier League meetings between the sides – when Bobby De Cordova-Reid, Tim Ream and Aleksandar Mitrovic scored the goals as the Whites cruised to a comfortable victory on Boxing Day last year.
  • Palace haven’t won in three Premier League meetings with Fulham – having stitched together a run three straight wins before that.
  • Fulham have won only one of their last two Premier League derbies – but that success was at Selhurst Park last year.
  • Last week against Luton, Fulham played more successful passes (733) and registered their highest share of possession (77.6%) since Opta began collating Premier League records in 2003/04. Issa Diop’s total of 156 successful passes was more than Luton’s entire side and the highest by any top flight player this season.
  • Despite dominating the ball, Fulham struggled to score. Carlos Vinicius scored his fourth goal in six league matches on his first appearance of the season, just three minutes after replacing Raul Jimenez (who hasn’t scored in 28 Premier League outings). The Mexican hasn’t scored against Palace in seven league appearances.
  • Fulham can reach double figures in their seventh Premier League match for only the third time (Chris Coleman’s 2003/04 side did it and so did Hodgson’s 2008/09 team).

There have been plenty of memorable trips to Selhurst Park, but perhaps the most magical was the come-from-behind victory that cost Ian Holloway his job and gave us a few more precious months of Martin Jol in 2013. Famously, Pajtim Kasami scored a stunner amidst a fire alarm, but there was also a stunning strike from Steve Sidwell and a collector’s item from Philippe Senderos.

The Whites’ win last season is well worth revisiting too.
