Fulham winger Martial Godo has won the PL2 player of the month award for August.

The 20 year-old enjoyed a sensational first month of the new campaign with Fulham’s under 21s scoring five goals in three games as the young Whites registered three wins from their first three league games under new coach Hayden Mullins. Godo’s fantastic form earned him a season-long loan move to League One, Wigan Athletic.

The former Margate winger told Fulham’s official website:

“I am pleased and honoured to have won the player of the month award and it’s a great feeling to be recognised by the league for my performances. Personally, I set high standards for myself and it’s always important to work hard in pre-season and start the season strong.”

Godo is hoping to take his excellent start to the season into senior football at Wigan and he is in contention to make his Latics debut against Cambridge United at the DW Stadium tomorrow afternoon. He added:

“I am determined and looking forward to showcasing my talent, helping out the team and continuing my good form as consistency is of course key.”
