Fulham have an extra hour to conclude a deal to sign Everton’s Alex Iwobi after submitting a deal sheet to the Premier League.

Iwobi, who was brought to Goodison Park by Marco Silva when he was Everton boss in 2019, has been at Motspur Park for most of transfer deadline day after Fulham and his current employers reached a deal for a permanent transfer this morning. The Nigerian international, who has less than a year left on his contract on Merseyside, is keen to reignite his career by returning to London to work under his former manager.

The 27 year-old Nigerian international came through the ranks at Arsenal, making 149 first-team appearances for the Gunners before signing for the Toffees in a deal rumoured to be worth £28m. Iwobi, an ever-present as Everton stayed up on the final day of last season, has been troubled by injury this term but started the opening day defeat at the hands of Fulham at Goodison Park. His versatility is viewed as a positive by Silva, who has been desperate to strengthen his squad throughout the summer.
