Promising young winger Martial Godo has signed a new two-year contract with Fulham after an impressive start to his Craven Cottage career.
The 20 year-old has become a key figure in Fulham’s under-21 after slotting seamlessly into Steve Wigley’s plans having impressed on trial from Margate last March. Godo scored six goals and added six assists in 28 games last term and was rewarded with a senior debut against Crawley Town in the League Cup last August.
The lively winger also featured for Marco Silva’s side as a substitute in the Premier League Summer Series against Aston Villa last month and has put pen to paper on a two-year contract extension – with the club retaining an option for a further twelve months. Godo told FFCTV this afternoon:
“I’m really pleased to extend my stay at this historical, great club. This is just the beginning. I want to keep working hard and improving not only as a player, but also as a professional on and off the pitch. I’ve loved it here. The coaches and players welcomed me in and allowed me to improve physically and mentally and I love waking up every day and doing something I love as my dream job.
My main goal is to keep getting better and work towards reaching my potential as I’m still very young. Obviously, I never forget the end goal which is to play on the pitch at Craven Cottage in front of all the fans and cement a place within the senior squad.”
Fulham’s head of football development, Huw Jennings, heaped praise on the youngster.
“We’re delighted because he’s come onto the scene quite late and he brings with him a breath of fresh air. He’s an exciting prospect and he knows he needs to keep working hard and make the most of the opportunities that come his way. He’s been part of the first Team programme during pre-season which has given him an insight into the next level up and hopefully he can continue to progress.”
