Fulham have not received a bid from Bayern Munich for midfielder Joao Palhinha and insist that their Portuguese international is not for sale.

Bild reported this morning that Palhinha, who has just returned to Fulham’s starting eleven after sustaining a shoulder injury during the Summer Series last month, was top of Thomas Tuchel’s shortlist as he seeks to add a defensive midfielder to his squad before the close of the transfer window. The German sports tabloid even claimed that the Bundesliga champions had tabled an offer – something the Whites have refuted this afternoon.

Palhinha, who followed up his stunning equaliser at Arsenal on Saturday with a successful penalty in Fulham’s shoot out success over Tottenham in the League Cup last night, has four years to run on his current contract at Craven Cottage. The former Sporting Lisbon man has become a cult hero with the Fulham fanbase since topping the Premier League list of tacklers in his first season in English football as Marco Silva’s side finished tenth on their return to the top flight.

Fulham, who rejected two bids from West Ham for Palhinha over the summer, have no intention of selling another star player after losing Aleksandar Mitrovic to Al-Hilal ten days ago.
