Fulham have not received a bid from Bayern Munich for midfielder Joao Palhinha and insist that their Portuguese international is not for sale.
Bild reported this morning that Palhinha, who has just returned to Fulham’s starting eleven after sustaining a shoulder injury during the Summer Series last month, was top of Thomas Tuchel’s shortlist as he seeks to add a defensive midfielder to his squad before the close of the transfer window. The German sports tabloid even claimed that the Bundesliga champions had tabled an offer – something the Whites have refuted this afternoon.
Palhinha, who followed up his stunning equaliser at Arsenal on Saturday with a successful penalty in Fulham’s shoot out success over Tottenham in the League Cup last night, has four years to run on his current contract at Craven Cottage. The former Sporting Lisbon man has become a cult hero with the Fulham fanbase since topping the Premier League list of tacklers in his first season in English football as Marco Silva’s side finished tenth on their return to the top flight.
Fulham, who rejected two bids from West Ham for Palhinha over the summer, have no intention of selling another star player after losing Aleksandar Mitrovic to Al-Hilal ten days ago.
He’s one of the best DMs in the league. He makes everyone better. Just look at Ream. Players like that don’t come around often. I hope recruitment is looking for alternatives since we probably can’t hold on to this kind of talent forever. As succesful team needs a Palhinha.
Whilst agreeing we need to hold onto him. I think holding onto Silva is key to that.
Currently his challenge to the Khans of show your ambitions remains largely ignored as we once again appear to have little rhyme or reason to our recruitment strategy. What do Brentford do that is so markedly different to us?
The quality of journalism surrounding João Palhinha is complete amateur BS! (Not Hammyend!)
A. He is not for sale
B. Fulham are owned by multimillionaires whose aim is to become a top 6/8 Premier League side. That means we keep our best player until WE deem the time is right to move them on.
C. Even if Palhinha was for sale, journos are embarrassing themselves with a lack of understanding of the above. Price is £80m (not €).
In conclusion, a complete non story so stop this incessant nonsense reporting.. You’re just embarrassing yourselves.
Please amend to multi billionaires
