Today’s Sunday Mirror links Fulham with another move for Paris Saint-Germain striker Hugo Ekitike as they begin the search for strikers following Aleksandar Mitrovic’s departure.
The Whites looked toothless without the Serbian in yesterday’s dismal 3-0 defeat by Brentford and French under-20 international Ekitike, who has also interested Everton and Aston Villa, is apparently one of several names under consideration by the Craven Cottage recruitment team. The 21 year-old came through the ranks of his home town club, Reims, and was a regular scorer for their reserve side before making his senior debut against Lorient in October 2020.
Etikite gained further experience on loan with Danish outfit Vejle Boldklub, where he scored three goals in eleven appearances, before his eleven strikes in 26 matches last season, earned him a loan to Paris Saint-Germain. Etikite, who had earlier turned down a move to Newcastle United, scored four goals in 32 games in all competitions as his new side won Ligue 1 – before the terms of the deal stipulated that the move became permanent for around £30m. PSG are open to selling the striker this summer, but are looking for at least £29m, according to reports from France.
Everton have seen buy a loan-to-buy and permanent offer for the forward rejected earlier this summer and their financial position means it is unlikely they will be able to match PSG’s asking price. Fulham were linked with a move for Ekitike back in April and may be set to revive their interest in the 6ft 2in forward.
We desperately need a striker,£30 million might be a lot to pay for someone with now Premier League experience. It would be a gamble Unfortumeatly Raúl Jiminez look completely out of his depth and contributed very little, I was very surprised he was not substituted at half time and had anticipated seeing him replaced by Vinicius and was amazed to see Muniz instead. On another note I thought Lukic had buy far his nest march for the club and was only slightly surpassed by Tete
We already have a forward line who can’t score goals and a useless midfield why add to this problem. Ekitike would be an expensive and wasteful benchwarmer, his goal scoring record in recent seasons is dismal. In the meantime Just give Raul the service he deserves while we search for another goal scorer. I feel the alarm bells ringing and don’t say it’s too early only after 2 games, we are a different side this season, very poor at Everton and worse lot worse yesterday. As for Diop I could go on……we must be desperate to keep playing him.
I was shocked to see Muniz, too. The reason might be we’re trying to sell him for 10 million (seriously?), and the club needed to give him some minutes to try and justify the price.
I am not convinced he is the right choice as a replacement for Mitro especially at that price. However there is no doubt we need more firepower immediately. Yesterday our front 3 had as much punch as a Sunday league team after a hangover. Diop seems to make too many vital mistakes. I agree with John W about Lukic it was by far his best performance and was far more influential than Harrison Reed who by his standards had a very poor match
I think we will be stuck with Vinicius, Munich and and Stansfield. We need to trust in them and get on with it. As usual we gave left it too late to replace Mitro. A blind man could see we were going to lose him and I think everyone is trying there best but we are Fulham…. we need to go with what we have. We are lucky to keep Marco Silva, the best signing…..
We have had since the end of last season to search for all the positions we need to strengthen and here we are again desperately trying to get players as time runs out and I dread to think who we will end up with, we are even thinking of signing Eric Bailly for god sake no body else wants him he is injury prone and too old. We could do worse than looking in the championship for a good young striker.
We all knew what would happen during the transfer window. Tony goes on holiday and has a mad supermarket dash on 1st Sept. You never know but we could sign Josh Maja again.

Need a striker proven goals in the Prem. I honestly don’t know who they should buy. Mitro is just a massive hole to fill. Not many proven strikers on sale right now.
