Manchester United defender Eric Bailly is in talks with Fulham over a potential move to Craven Cottage, according to the Daily Mail.

RMC reported last week that the Ivorian international had agreed a mutual termination of his Old Trafford contract with the Red Devils. The 29 year-old, a £30m signing from Villarreal in 2016, had been expected to join Saudi Pro League side Al-Nassr but that deal fell through. Fulham hold a strong interest in the centre back, who has turned an offer from Besiktas.

Bailly, who earns £80,000 a week, spent last season on loan at Marseille playing 23 games. He has made 113 appearances for Manchester United but has featured for the first team since a 3-1 win over Burnley in December 2021. The centre back has won 49 senior caps for the Ivory Coast – scoring two goals – and helped the Elephants win the Africa Cup of Nations in 2016.

Fulham are seeking further reinforcements in the final fortnight of the summer transfer window, having made just three signings so far. Marco Silva may require central defensive cover should Tosin Adarabioyo, who has refused to extend his contract in SW6, leave the club before deadline day.
