Veteran winger Willian has signed a new contract with Fulham, the club have confirmed this evening.

The Brazilian international sparkled on his surprise return to England after cancelling his Corinthians contract to join Fulham following a successful trial last September. The former Chelsea and Arsenal winger rolled back the years, scoring five goals and adding six assists in thirty appearances, as the Whites finished tenth and reached the FA Cup quarter-finals on their return to the top flight.

The 34 year-old had originally rejected Fulham’s offer of a new deal with his short-term contract set to expire at the end of June but has agreed terms on a one-year extension. The winger is settled in London and rejected a more lucrative offer from Nottingham Forest to extend his stay with the Cottagers.

Willian told FFCTV tonight:

“I’m completely happy. Happy to sign one more year with Fulham. Happy to continue the work that I did last season with all my teammates and the whole Club. I think it’s a club that can do even better this season, so I’m happy to continue this amazing adventure.”
