Hayden Mullins is in talks with Fulham about succeeding Steve Wigley as the Whites’ under-21 head coach, The Athletic’s Peter Rutzler is reporting tonight.

The former Crystal Palace, West Ham and Portsmouth midfielder has managerial experience having spent ten months in charge of Colchester United and coached the Turks and Caicos Islands national side earlier this year. The 44 year-old, who was an FA Cup runner-up in his time with Pompey, began his coaching career in the academy set-up at Brentford and Reading before coaching with Watford for four years. He twice took caretaker charge of the Hornets’ first-team after the Pozzo family dispensed with the services of Quique Sanchez Flores in 2019 and Nigel Pearson the following year.

Mullins is considered an excellent youth development coach and is a leading candidate to take over the full-time under-21 position at Motspur Park from Wigley, who was appointed Fulham’s academy technical director four months ago.
