Fulham’s academy squad have travelled to Portugal today to begin their pre-season training camp.
The Whites’ under-18 and under-21 sides will heighten their preparations for the new domestic campaign with a week’s training in Portugal and play two matches each against local opponents.
The under 21s will face Porto B on Wednesday morning before taking on Braga B on Saturday morning. The under-18 outfit will tackle Braga’s under 19s on Wednesday evening and play Porto’s under 19s on Saturday morning.
Fulham’s academy director Sean Cullen said:
“Portugal is a great opportunity for our Professional Development Phase teams to prepare for the demanding season ahead of them. The trip gives our players and staff the chance to bond, whilst also working hard on the grass and playing fixtures against top-quality opposition. The players are exposed to different styles of football and will also benefit holistically from experiencing a different culture.”
Yes as it’s a team game bonding is very important part of training, watching the development squads over the years we are getting to be a lot stronger unit with more options available. With only rodak and Harris around the squad and stanfield or Bowie not at the required level yet we are going in the right direction and marco is keen, but a club of our side needs more home grown players in the squad to help with depth and more money spent on other positions.
