Fulham are still keen on signing Southampton skipper James Ward-Prowse but are waiting for the south coast club to drop their asking price, according to a Daily Mail report this afternoon.

The England international is apparently interested in a potential move to Craven Cottage – having played with Harrison Reed at St. Mary’s and been nurtured into first-team football by Huw Jennings and Steve Wigley before the pair joined Fulham’s academy set-up. But, in common with a number of other suitors willing to offer the 28 year-old midfielder, the Whites are not currently prepared to meet the Saints’ current valuation – and are preparing to offer a maximum of £30m.

Ward-Prowse, who has made 409 senior appearances since breaking into the Southampton senior side aged sixteen in 2011, caught Silva’s eye when he curled in a sublime set-piece equaliser at Craven Cottage last December. The ball-playing midfielder has won eleven full caps for his country – scoring two senior England goals – and starred as the Saints reached the League Cup final in 2017.
