Fulham are set to fight West Ham United for Manchester City central defender Taylor Harwood-Bellis, according to a Daily Mail report this evening.
The Stockport-born centre back captained England under-21s to their first European Championship title in 39 years at the weekend and is keen to play regular Premier League football this season. Harwood-Bellis has made just eight senior appearances for his boyhood club and has spent the last four seasons on loan at Blackburn Rovers, Anderlecht, Stoke City and Burnley.
City are ready to cash in Harwood-Bellis’s potential with the academy graduate entering the last twelve months of his contract at the Etihad Stadium. He starred at Turf Moor as Vincent Kompany’s side secured an immediate return to the top flight – and that success has whetted the 21 year-old’s appetite to test himself at the highest level. He could replace another former City starlet in Tosin Adarabioyo, who is considering his options this summer, at Craven Cottage as Marco Silva hunts for defensive reinforcements ahead of the new season.
This is one I think we should go for.We are in desperate need of central defenders and he has enormous promise ans id young and British. If we could get £20m for Toshin and then Harwood Bellis for under 15m i feel we would be on a winner.
Is this just another rumour. We do not seem close to signing anyone yet and retaining Willian seems to be still,in the balance. However if there is any truth about Harwood Bellis he would be a good signing if the price is right. We should receive more for the sale of Toshin who is proved at Premiership level, than we have to pay for Harwood Bellis, who is only proven in the Championship but does have a lot of promise.
Same in every transfer window. Lots of rumours with no substance. Last minute scramble as usual.
I just wish we would hurry up and get some players in and get them settled in before the season starts, surely Silva must know the players he needs by now.
Absolutely correct Roy, we follow the same pattern each T/W. Like a leopard changing his spots, TK will not change his ways.
This lad would be a great addition – along with a lot of the others that are ‘rumoured to be looked at’. However, I can only add to the previous comments about our customary inaction. If TK doesn’t get his finger out soon, we will lose both Marco and Mitro to a place with lots of sand and money… (and who would blame them?). COYW!!!
