Fulham are locked in talks with Chelsea as they step up their attempts to sign the England winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, according to a report in this morning’s Times.
The 22 year-old, who has been capped three times at senior international level, is eager to leave Stamford Bridge permanently having spent the second half of last season on loan at Bayer Leverkusen. Hudson-Odoi looks set to become the latest Chelsea academy graduate to move on this summer after the Blues sold Mason Mount to Manchester United and Ruben Loftus-Cheek, who had a disastrous loan spell at Craven Cottage in 2020/21, to AC Milan. The Wandsworth-born winger is keen to remain in London and is understood to be intrigued by the possibility of continuing to play in the Premier League with Fulham.
Hudson-Odoi made his senior international debut aged eighteen and was widely regarded as one of England’s brightest prospects having starred at youth level for Chelsea. He has scored sixteen goals in 126 appearances at Stamford Bridge and has won the Champions’ League, the Europa League and the Club World Cup. Hudson-Odoi was close to moving to Bayern Munich in 2019 and 2020 but signed a new contract with his boyhood club. He struggled to recapture his best form under Thomas Tuchel and, having rejected a lucrative move to Saudi Arabia this summer, is hoping to reignite his career in England.
This window so far swings from disastrous to underwhelming. Solomon has gone, uncertainty still exists with Willian and now Mitro. There is a general scatter gun of names and no obvious progress with anyone.
All of this allows the football gossip writers to make hay; we are now told Marco may not sign a new contract.
Whilst this smacks of deja vu given this is classic Khan I was hoping this year we might show a bit of direction structure and clarity of effort. FFP should not be the excuse this time but we fail to learn.
If we want to keep Marco we must surely be targeting his preferred list but he must be frustrated he will once again not have the opportunity to bed players in early and we will start the season potentially playing catch up
Maybe Marco can use his magic to re-start H-O carrer , as done with so many others…
I really don’t understand the criticism of the Khan’s – they have worked wonders the last two seasons. Have faith.
At the start of the Transfer window Fulham seem to be interested in half the players likely to move. Mr T khan is aid to be knowledgeable about American football and wrestling.
In my book however he is an amateur in dealing with transfers in the Premier League.
Sadly his father does not appear to realise the damage being done to the prospects of Fulham .Tw Fulham supporter since the 1950s
Well, just a step back. Fulham have been fantastic the past couple of seasons and I would say that most of the signings have been a really good success. So, maybe let’s see how it turns out. We all love Silva, Mitro and Willian, so let’s hope that they all stay. Personally, I have also been extremely impressed by Huson-Odoi and would be delighted to see him at Fulham. I live in hope (and expectation).
The baffling and annoying thing is that we seem to be streets behind both Brentford and Brighton in terms of scouting, identifying and eventually sealing deals for potential targets. Brighton suffered what it appears we may be about to experience, losing the manager that made them a viable premier league club and several of their established players, but then achieved even more than they had done under potter! What have they and Brentford got that we haven’t? I suggest we need to identify what it is and copy them asap!
I am with Dipper and Robin on trusting T Khan as he has delivered last two seasons – We are not a big money club and FFP rules do play their part . Much of fan base has been all doom and gloom , critical of signings ( like Willian ) or keeping players not fit for premiership( like Tim Ream ) and proved wrong over past 2 years . Also , if we want to be like Brighton then we should take big money offers for Mitro , JP , and others in their prime and then re invest in younger players ( But the fan base don’t want that – not sure I do either ) . As for Solomon very clear he did not want to stay and had eyes on “big six” and Spurs could offer him more than we could so for me he can indeed” S@d off to Spur” . As for Willian I am starting to feel that if he is not interested in the second deal on table and prefers the offer from NFfC then so much for loyalty and appreciation for what this club and Silva did for him to restart his life and career – but who knows the truth with all this fantasy reporting going on . The only real thing of importance is keeping Silva and hope T Khan is doing all he can for that . COYW
The most important signing for Fulham should be done by offering our excellent young manager Marco Silva a five year extension, rewarded with a generous bonus if he keeps our club in the Premier League throughout his tenure.
This must be closely followed by the tying down of our top players such as Mitro, Palhinha and Willian. Then adding a few high calibre players such as Hudson-Odoi, Ward-Prowse and a decent striker to assist/replace Mitro when needed.
With an outstanding return to the Premier League last season, we must galvanise our squad, and not go for short-term loanees, who often never achieve their potential.
Fulham FC belong in the top division, and only by having a top manager at the helm, with players that WANT to play for this great club and give 100% each match, will we achieve this goal.
COYW………….
For me reataing Marco Silva on an extended contact is the number one priority. How much liaison between Tony Khan and him is taking place at the moment. I would prefer to retain Willian rather than signing Hudson -Odoi which I think is a gamble. Mitro has had his head turned with the money being offered to him, If Neves is worth £47 million then Mitro is worth £70 million. The Saudis have the money so yell them to take it or leave it
