Young Fulham centre back Ibane Bowat has signed for Austrian side TSV Hartberg on loan after agreeing a new two-year contract with the Cottagers.

The Scottish under-21 international made sixteen senior appearances whilst on loan at Dutch outfit FC Den Bosch last season and is looking forward to continuing his development in Austria. Bowat, who signed for Fulham six years ago, has become an increasingly key part of Fulham’s academy set-up helping Steve Wigley’s side return to the top tier at under-21 level with a series of composed displays.

Bowat, who will remain at Craven Cottage until at least 2025 with the Whites holding a twelve-month extension option, told Fulham’s official website:

“I’m delighted to sign a new contract and extend my time with Fulham. I feel I’m developing well as a footballer, and the staff in the academy and first team have been excellent with me. Last season was a big step for me going to the Netherlands on loan and getting experience playing men’s football, so it was important I continue to play senior football this season.

They have a great setup, and playing under Markus Schopp, along with his coaching staff, was very appealing to me, so I’m keen to get started and taking part in their pre-season games.”
