Ajax defender Calvin Bassey has passed his Fulham medical and is set to complete his £18.2m move to Craven Cottage, according to Sky Sports News.

The Nigerian international made 39 appearances for the Dutch giants during a difficult season after making a £20m switch from Rangers last summer. Bassey, who came through the Leicester City youth set-up, opted to return to the Premier League having been told that he had fallen down the pecking order of Ajax’s new coach Maurice Steijn.

Bassey, now 23, shot to prominence during Rangers run to the Europa League final and helping them end Celtic’s pursuit of ten titles in a row. He made 65 appearances in total at Ibrox and has won ten senoior caps for Nigeria.
