Israeli international Manor Solomon looks set to extend his stay with Fulham, snubbing interest from other Premier League sides and around Europe.
The Shakhtar Donetsk winger moved to Craven Cottage on a short-term deal until the end of the season following the FIFA ruling that allowed players from Ukrainian clubs to cancel their contracts after Russia’s invasion of Ukrainian territory. The 23 year-old made an incredible impact under Marco Silva, scoring five goals in five games after returning from a knee injury sustained the day after his debut against Liverpool. Solomon reportedly has the option of signing another season-long deal with the Whites under the regulations or moving permanently if Fulham can finalise a deal with Shakhtar, who are currently taking legal action against FIFA over the imposition of last summer’s ruling.
Solomon has other suitors, with Tottenham Hotspur keen to sign him following his successful spell in the Premier League, but any deal to take the former Maccabi Petah Tikva winger to north London would have to be approved by Ange Postecoglou, who appears set to take over at Spurs. The lively winger has also been advised by a number of figures within Israeli football, including Yossi Benayoun, to continue his development at Craven Cottage under Silva.
Fulham are increasingly confident that they will retain Solomon’s services and are ready to play hardball with any clubs seeking to sign their key players this summer as Silva looks to supplement the squad that surpassed all expectations by finishing tenth on their return to the top flight.
I hope this is the beginning of a series of player commitments and we build a squad to continue our successful return.
Whilst the team always looked reasonably strong the subs were not always quality. I think this meant our first team played when rotations would have given us a better return over the full season
Hopefully we can get this over the line along with Kebano and Willian, also contract extensions for Tete, Tosin, Robinson, Ream, Bobby and Reed as our 1st team is a match for anyone in the league but our back up players need to have more quality especially in both full back area and an additional attacking midfield player is required to ease Andrea’s workload.
This is good news but he needs more game time, keep the squad together and add a striker but I thought vinicious ended the season well after a slow start
I don’t agree with the general sentiment that we will be competitive by just keeping our starting 11 from last season pretty much intact and signing quality bench players. xG, xGA, Var decisions; most of these metrics were almost statistical outliers in our favor, as our expected points per game put us around the 40 point mark. And last season was unusual with the WC and many top clubs struggling. We need starting quality players at CB, in CM and in support or replacement of Mitro. No demerit to our campaign, we were super competitive in almost every game. It was a pleasure to watch compared to previous campaigns in the top flight. I just hope that everyone at the club, starting with Marco Silva, understands that we need to build on this success with quality players, rather than maintain status quo.
