Fulham have joined the race to sign Leicester City full back Timothy Castagne, according to reports overnight.

The Belgian international has two years to run on his contract at the King Power but is likely to leave the Foxes following their relegation to the Championship. The 27 year-old had been heavily linked with a move to Arsenal earlier this week, but National World football correspondent Chris Wheatley claims that the Gunners will face competition from the Whites as well as AFC Bournemouth and Crystal Palace.

Marco Silva is known to be seeking competition for Kenny Tete having been disappointed with Kevin Mbabu’s performances since the Swiss international move to Craven Cottage last summer. Mbabu spent the second half of the season on loan with Servette and his short-term replacement, Cedric Soares, has returned to Arsenal following his loan spell at Craven Cottage. Fulham yesterday confirmed the release of Steven Sessegnon and Silva would either have to deploy the dependable Bobby Decordova-Reid at right back or promote Luciano D’Auria-Henry should the Cottagers not strengthen in that position.

Castagne, who can also operate as a left back or on the right side of midfield, has made 112 appearances for Leicester – scoring five goals and adding eight assists since arriving from Atalanta in September 2020. He helped City lift the FA Cup in 2021 when they beat Chelsea in the final and began his career with Ghent for whom he made 99 senior appearances after being his debut in 2014 by Alex McLeish.
