Fulham are one of several sides interested in signing the Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi, according to the Guardian.
The Whites are likely to face competition from Nottingham Forest, West Ham United and AC Milan for the 22 year-old’s signature. The Cobham academy graduate is about to enter the final year of current Stamford Bridge contract and Chelsea are keen to cash in on the one-time starlet as Hudson-Odoi is not in Mauricio Pochettino’s first-team plans. He spent last season on loan with Bayer Leverkusen and is keen to remain either in England or the continent – having given short shrift to lucrative offers from Saudi Arabia.
Marco Silva’s side are thought to be the early favourites following their fine first season back in the top flight and their ability to offer the England international the chance to remain in west London. The Cottagers are keen to add more depth to their forward options, with Dan James returning to Leeds United following his loan and uncertainty about Manor Solomon’s immediate feature. Forest are keen to revamp their forward line after surviving under Steve Cooper, whilst AC Milan could pair Hudson-Odoi with former Fulham loanee Ruben Loftus-Cheek. West Ham are rumoured to be interested but Harvey Barnes is their top target following Leicester’s relegation from the top flight.
The Wandsworth-born winger made his England debut at eighteen and was one of the brightest stars to emerge from the Blues’ academy. He has scored sixteen goals in 126 appearances at Stamford Bridge and has won the Champions’ League, the Europa League and the Club World Cup. Hudson-Odoi was close to moving to Bayern Munich in 2019 and 2020 but signed a new contract with his boyhood club. He struggled to recapture his best form under Thomas Tuchel, who used him predominantly as a right wing-back, and Frank Lampard and is now looking to reignite his career elsewhere.
I believe there is a good potentially very good consistent player in there that Marco Silva can bring out.
I think it could be a great signing
Absolutely agree. He is a super talent who has been mishandled by recent Chelsea managers.
Oh please no! He is has never done anything to prove/validate his hype. If he had potential, Chelsea would not sell him.
“If he had potential, Chelsea would not sell him”. I give you Salah, De Bruyne, Courtois!
@Jonny M – point well taken
Could be worth a look, so many players at Chelsea have lost their way in an over crowded pond of big fish. If he’s up for joining a happy dressing room then Marco Silva could reinvigorate his career much the same as he’s done with Willian and Perreira
At what cost, no way would he want to come to us anyway, like Lofus-Cheek, no thanks.
Whilst acknowledging that he may have as yet untapped talent & that Marco has a knack of getting the best out of players like that & recognising that we have to strengthen our squad for the next season, I still have some reservations about whether he would fit in at the Cottage, but i would be happy to be proved wrong.
