Issa Diop has been released without charge after being dramatically arrested on Sunday night under suspicion of making death threats against his ex-partner – with the Toulouse prosecutors saying the Fulham defender has no case to answer.

The 26 year-old centre half had been arrested in his home town, according to local press reports, with his former partner having alleged that Diop had threatened her life. But a spokesperson for the Toulouse prosecutor said this afternoon:

“The suspect has been released. There is no case to answer.”
