Fulham centre back Issa Diop has been arrested for allegedly making death threats against his former partner, according to reports in France.

The 25 year-old defender was detained at Toulouse’s Pullman Hotel last night for threatening the life of his ex-partner. The couple are currently in the middle of separation proceedings and the French newspaper La Dépêche du Midi claims that Diop had refused to pay her significant sums of money and had mentioned the possibility of ‘definitely getting rid of her’.

The French anti-crime brigade reportedly waited for the former West Ham defender to live London and return to Toulouse, where he had started his footballing career, before arresting him. The regional outlet reports that the proceedings against Diop are progressing this morning and that he has admitted a number of facts against him in the case, but insists his words and threats were not to be taken seriously.
