Harrison Reed has reiterated that Fulham are fully focused on setting a new club record Premier League points total by beating Crystal Palace in their final home game of a sensational season on Saturday.
The tigerish midfielder, fresh from a man-of-the-match showing his former club Southampton last week, told FFCTV that Marco Silva has left the Whites in no doubt as to what the target is from the final two games of the season. Fulham sit on 51 points at present, two points shy of the mark Roy Hodgson’s 2008/09 team achieved, with two games to go.
“Definitely. It’s been spoken about a lot and I think us as players and the coaching staff as well, it is obviously a great thing to do to rewrite history. If we can achieve that it will be something that’s really special to us and the club. That’s our target. We’ve got two games left and I think it is three points we need. We’ll go into the game Saturday full of confidence and hopefully we can achieve that when the final whistle blows. That’s the aim, that’s the feeling in the training ground this week, preparing for this game is to send the fans home happy and end the season at home on a high.
Reed knows that Palace, under the stewardship of former Fulham manager Hodgson, will be a serious proposition tomorrow afternoon.
“A very, very good side and a lot of quality in the team. I think since Roy’s gone back in there they’ve picked up results and they’re showing a lot of consistency. I’m expecting a tough game but, obviously last game back at the Cottage, a full house and really looking forward to it.”
