Rodrigo Muniz will report back to Fulham for pre-season training following his disappointing loan spell at Middlesbrough, reports from Brazil have confirmed.

The former Flamengo forward made just sixteen appearances and scored two goals during his season-long loan at the Riverside Stadium, with his first-team opportunities hindered by Boro’s replacement of Chris Wilder with Michael Carrick. The 22 year-old, who scored five goals in 25 games as the Whites won the Championship in his first campaign at Craven Cottage, had been linked with a mooted move to Gremio but Diogo Rossi revealed on Youtube that Muniz will be back at Motspur Park in July with the aim of earning a spot in Marco Silva’s squad.

The Portuguese head coach was pivotal in persuading Muniz to pick Fulham over Middlesbrough two summers ago and is in need of different striking options having had just Carlos Vinicius to call upon as back up for the banned Aleksandar Mitrovic this season. A more likely scenario could see the Cottagers seek a more successful loan destination that will give the striker more frequent senior football.
