There’s a lovely little tribute to Kenny Tete on The Athletic by Ahmed Shooble this morning after the right back popped up with another goal yesterday.
The Dutch defender’s first Premier League goal had us all dreaming of a famous end-of-season win at Old Trafford and, although Fulham had to come to turns with leaving Manchester with nothing, it wasn’t for the want of trying. Tete’s transformation from being benched by Scott Parker at the end of the 2019/20 campaign when the Whites grabbed an unlikely draw at United having already been relegated to being one of the best right backs in the top flight has been terrific to watch.
Most crucial has been the full back’s ability to remain injury-free for the first time in his career. The former Lyon defender played more than 2,500 minutes in the league this term – his best return since he stepped up to senior football. He nullified Alejandro Garnacho, who had scored that sensational late winner at Craven Cottage in the autumn brilliantly: the latest in a long line of outstanding displays this season.
