Fulham are ready to fight for the services of Alassane Pléa, who is desperate to leave Borussia Mönchengladbach this summer, according to a report from Foot Mercato this afternoon.
The 30 year-old forward has scored 49 goals in 173 games for the Bundesliga outfit, but his frequency of goalscoring has diminished this term after being predominantly used as a winger. The positional switch has angered Plea, who wants to move on in the close season despite having another two years to run on his contract.
Pléa, valued at around £10m, is reportedly keen on returning to France with Olympique Lyonnais looking the likeliest destination for the former Nice striker. But Foot Mercato reports that a number of Premier League sides have made contact with Pléa’s agents, including West Ham United, Fulham and Crystal Palace. Marco Silva is known to be keen on supplementing his striking resources over the summer as the Whites plan for a second season in the Premier League.
Defenders should be our priority not another winger.
He’s not a winger. That’s why he wants to leave where he is. Actually read what it says.
Another over 30year old on the way down the ladder. Having just had an excellent season now is the time to look at younger more dynamic players. We will look attractive to the better players. We must strike while the iron is hot. We need to attract talent.
I’m risking getting lynched next time I go to The Cottage for this, but I see a lot of sense in allowing ‘the other team’ to give us 20/30 mil for Mitro this summer. Don’t get me wrong I love the guy to bits, but this is business and the team needs to move forward. Marco has shown that he can set us up to score goals without him (more than just Plan B) and the thought of Vinicius, Muniz, Luke Harris and whoever else we pick up this summer vying for a starting slot is interesting. However, I agree with John B that we badly need to strengthen our back four (and another lump like Joao to add to our midfield would be nice). Apparently the FFP shackles are off so TK needs to get busy with the transfers Marco wants – if he does his usual ‘last minute thing’ we could risk losing Marco (silly money being offered at him by teams in UAE I understand).
