Fulham’s Dan James created the winner as Wales made it four points from six at the start of European Championship qualifier by beating Latvia in Cardiff last night.

The winger, on loan from Leeds, enjoyed an excellent first half continually getting the better of his full back as Rob Page’s side made a purposeful start – buoyed by their last-gasp point in Croatia at the weekend. James nearly made a goal for Harry Wilson inside five minutes but his Fulham team-mate saw his snapshot well saved. Five minutes before the break, James produced a peach of a delivery with his left foot that was headed home by Kieffer Moore.

The only other Fulham player in action during European qualifier was Manor Solomon, whose Israel side were well beaten by Switzerland. Ruben Vargas, Zeki Amdouni and Silvan Widmer gave the Swiss a straightforward 3-0 victory.
