Fulham face multiple disciplinary charges from the Football Association following their FA Cup quarter-final exit at Manchester United yesterday.
Head coach Marco Silva, who was sent off at Old Trafford, forward Aleksandar Mitrovic, who also received a red card, and the club collectively have been charged with failing to control their players in and after the 72nd minute of the fixture.
The FA have also claimed that the regular suspension for the Serbian striker would be insufficient – paving the way for a longer ban for the centre forward.
Moving forward beyond the ban Mitrovic’s card will now be marked by referees. There’ll be zero tolerance towards him, he won’t get fouls and penalties he should get and he’ll be carded every time he approaches a ref in a less than respectful manner.
It wouldn’t surprise me if he decided his future lies overseas.
Likewise, the referees will gang together and will be anti-Fulham for the remaining games this season. I doubt there will be any impartiality towards Fulham . The team, the fans will suffer from now on. The Lily Whites will need to be whiter than white, as there will be definitely won’t get 50/50 decisions.
I’m with Tony. I cant see Mitro playing again this season and he could leave in the summer and start afresh somewhere else. I hope not. But theres a chance for sure.
I wonder if the FA will charge Fernandes and Maguire for clearly telling the ref and linesman to F’off or Unuited players for surrounding the ref for Willian’s penalty…..I think we all know the answer to that.
Mitro has been a great player for us but he’s likely to receive a lengthy ban and may well have played his last game for Fulham. He’s got many attributes to be a top striker in the Prem but has no pace and is a hot head. I think he’ll be sold in the summer…..you never know Marco may already have a Portuguese or Brazilian replacement in mind?
Mitro has not been fairly treated with refereeing decisions for some while – even I find some of his antics embarrassing – but the result is that this can influence decisions that should have been given in his favour (added to ;who gets an early penalty shout in front of The Stretford End?…’) Unfortunately I agree that he has probably played his last game in a Fulham shirt. I’m sure that Marco will be more than aware of this but first he needs to spend some time in front of a mirror himself.
These are wise comments from you all. 50 years a Fulham fan, I genuinely feel sick to my stomach by the whole affair. I agree that sometimes Mitrovic gets a bad rap, but his behaviour was inexcusable. I never thought I would say this, but maybe we will be better off if he goes in the summer. Our chances of a top 6 or 7 finish have been greatly diminished by his insane behaviour. No matter how valuable he is as a player, he can throw it all away in a moment of madness. It was embarrassing, ugly and beyond irresponsible. This is a painful day to be a Fulham fan.
Let’s hope that the rest of the team react positively to whatever ban Mitro receives. A siege mentality might kick us on, rather than letting our season peter out. We have proved that we’re capable of scoring goals and winning games without Mitro. COYW
