Kevin Mbabu has joined Servette on loan for the reminder of the season, Fulham have confirmed this afternoon.
The Swiss international defender returns to his first club after an underwhelming start to his Craven Cottage career. The 27 year-old, a £5m signing from VfL Wolfsburg last summer, has only made seven appearances for Marco Silva – and the Whites loaned in Cedric Soares to provide competition for Kenny Tete.
Mbabu, who set up Aleksandar Mitrovic’s last-minute winner against Brentford in August, could feature for Servette at rock bottom Winterthur on Wednesday evening.
Another smart move. Well done.
What a waste of money this was. Reading article this morning Ream talking about Silva’s fitness demands. Wonder if the issue here was a lack of commitment or falling short of the expected standard. If so it’s incredible with such a protracted saga to acquire him there wasn’t the time to do due diligence. Still seems to be a massive disconnect in the club around recruitment, even if there has been a massive improvement from how piss poor it was a year or two ago, there still seems to be some way to go to get everyone on the same page.

He was toilet. I know he was on the wrong side when he replaced Robinson at Spurs away, but that performance was shocking. That on its own probably did for him.
Personally I was disappointed with the speed of our recruitment on promotion but we got there in the end. Not every transfer will work out. We’ve had enough good deals recently with Leno,Willian, Perreira, Palhinha. Got to let TK off with this one I think.
Like to really know what happened here ! Others had awful games , given a second chance and then proved their worth …. Maybe indeed he did not want to put the effort in and then rightly side lined by Silva..
