Fulham are set to open contract talks with full back Antonee Robinson to ward off interest from other Premier League and European suitors, according to reports this morning.
The American international has been one of the Whites’ most consistent performers as Marco Silva’s pre-season relegation favourites have stunned the punditocracy by storming to sixth place in the top flight. Tabloid reports have linked the former Wigan left back with moves to Manchester City and Newcastle United as well as Serie A giants Internazionale and AC Milan throughout the course of the season, but Football Insider claims that the Cottagers are ready to offer the 25 year-old a long-term deal.
Robinson is believed to be happy at Craven Cottage after Fulham gave him a shot at the top flight following the Latics’ relegation from the Championship and enjoying working under Silva, who made the attack-minded defender his first choice left back after taking over from Scott Parker. Robinson has just a year to run on his current deal and the Whites are not willing to entertain offers for the flying full-back, who played every minute of the United States’ World Cup campaign alongside Fulham team-mate Tim Ream earlier this winter.
