Fulham are close to concluding negotiations with full back Antonee Robinson over a new contract that will extend his stay at Craven Cottage, according to a Football Insider report this morning.

The American international, who has starred for both club and country this season, has been heavily linked with moves to Fulham’s Premier League rivals over the past few months – with Manchester City and Newcastle United credited with strong interest – as well as longstanding Italian suitors Inter and AC Milan. But Marco Silva does not want to lose his first choice left back and Fulham have held positive discussions with the former Wigan defender about renewing his contract with the club, which has less than eighteen months to run currently.

The 25 year-old has missed only three league fixtures this season as Fulham have surpassed the lowly predictions of the pundits in pre-season to sit sixth in the top flight. Robinson also played every minute of the USA’s World Cup campaign as Gregg Berhalter’s side reached the second round in Qatar last winter. Speaking to the Guardian earlier this month, the speedy full back emphasised how much he was enjoying life with the Whites and remains keen to build on this season’s success.
