Teenage striker Ede Buchele scored the winner as Fulham Women edged out Dorking Wanderers Ladies in a topsy-turvy five-goal thriller at Meadowbank this afternoon to reach the League Cup semi finals.

The youngster kept her cool impressively to pick her spot past Jenna Morris after being played in brilliantly by fellow Fulham substitute Charmaine True to break Dorking hearts after the lower league side had brilliantly battled back from going 2-0 down inside the first fifteen minutes. Buchele’s fine finish sent Steve Jaye’s side into the last four of the Cup but the Whites were made to work hard despite making a dream start in Surrey.

Lois Konan lashed the visitors ahead inside eight minutes with a superb shot into the bottom corner and Fulham doubled their lead six minutes later when Summer Roberts scored the second week in succession heading home Helen Ogle’s cross. Dorking kept battling despite those early setbacks and being denied by a pair of excellent Edie Kelly saves and got their reward four minutes before half time when Cherelle Khassal found the top corner with a perfect penalty.

Wanderers were level within 120 seconds of the restart when Gemma Shepherd scored from Cindy Colliver’s free kick and the second half became a test of Fulham’s character. True, who scored on her return to Fulham action in the fifth round win against Hastings last Sunday, made a telling impact from the bench and set up Buchele for what proved to the winner. The visitors came close to adding a fourth with True firing fractionally over the bar with three minutes remaining.
