West Bromwich Albion are close to concluding a deal to take Nathaniel Chalobah to the Hawthorns, according to the Daily Mail’s Mike Keegan.

The England international has struggled for game time since moving to Craven Cottage on a free transfer from Watford in 2021 and has made only six appearances for Fulham this season. His cause was not helped by being sent off for a horrible challenge early in the 4-1 home defeat by Newcastle in October.

The 6ft 2in central midfielder would add depth to Carlos Corberan’s squad and has the experience winning both the Premier League with Chelsea and the Championship at Fulham last season. He is expected to sign an eighteen-month contract. Chalobah, whose chances of regular football were not helped by the arrival of Joao Palhinha from Sporting this summer, has made 28 appearances in total for the Whites without ever recapturing the form that saw him win an England cap in 2018.
