Marco Silva will mull over removing Aleksandar Mitrovic as Fulham’s penalty taker after the Serbian striker’s costly slip at St. James’ Park.
The former Newcastle number nine – who has already missed twice from the spot this season – converted from twelve yards but lost his footing at the crucial moment and the goal that would have put the Whites in front was ruled out as Mitrovic had touched the ball twice. An angry Silva raged at the referee’s failure to dismiss Dan Burn, who had pulled down Andreas Pereira in the area before the VAR intervened to award a penalty for a later incident, saw his side beaten at the death by Alexander Isak’s close-range header.
The Fulham head coach told his post-match press conference:
“We have time to talk and decide what we have to decide. What we are going to decide will be for me to decide. If Mitro keeps going, he will keep going. If not, it will be another [player] and we have enough good takers in our squad.”
I think you will find Mitro has missed three times in matches against Wolves, Southhampton and now Newcastle, potentially costing us 5 points. Pereira would be my choice, if not him then Palhinha.
Has much as we all love Mitro I think it’s time for someone else to take penalties to take the pressure off the Big Man I agree Perreira,Palinha,Bobby Reid, etc also what a terrible performance by the Referee against Newcastle just read about Mike Dean decisions as the VAR official we all new that the Foul on Perreira was a Penalty and this Top official missed it yet again Fulham have to pay the price for bad officials at the top level of the game but we have to take it on the chin and move on it would not happen if it was Man Utd or Liverpool or Chelsea or Spurs etc
Last time it was Graham Scott who gave a penalty for a dive outside of the box by Wilson resulting in the sending off of Andersen.
I too think it’s time for someone else to take the next penalty, i I love Mitro but I don’t think he is our best penalty taker.
Penalties Not the Maestro Mitro’s speciality and surely better to rotate – could confuse keepers , share the spoils and create a bit of competition . Mitro is a big enough , wise enough to accept this . …. On other point Mitro was clearly knacked and non on form from about the 65/70 m mark . This would have been a great opportunity to have brought on Vinicius…We know know he can deliver ..

Sanguine words Pez…
Very difficult to negotiate this.
He slipped but you’re right he did seem lackluster the longer the game progressed.
My greater concern are the last minute losses…against top teams…Manchesters, Arsenal and now this.
I think we deserved a point in at least three of those.
