Fulham Women produced a professional away performance in winning 5-0 at Aylesford this afternoon to keep up their promotion push.

Tia Foreman gave the Whites the perfect start, calmly converting a fourth minute penalty to settle any early nerves. The visitors dominated the rest of the first half but were unable to find a second goal. Foreman tried to repeat her set-piece heroics from Saltdean earlier this month but this free-kick flew over the bar. Georgia Heasman was unlucky not to score after a superb turn and shot, which whistled just wide, after wonderful wing play from Helen Ogle as Steve Jaye’s side had to settle for a slender advantage at half time.

The visitors continued to play on the front foot after the break. Ellie Olds whipped an inviting ball into the box that was bravely claimed by Aylesford’s goalkeeper, before Edie Kelly produced an excellent stop from a home free-kick. Fulham went straight down the other end and scored the critical second, with Olds firing clinically into the net after being teed up by Heasman.

Young Alex Hayman was now beginning to pull the strings in midfield and she did superbly to set up Olds, whose shot flew fractionally over the bar. Fulham’s third was a first of the season for skipper Mary Southgate who headed home emphatically from Foreman’s corner and, as Aylesford tired, the Whites made their victory more resounding in the closing stages. Substitute Ede Buchele grabbed a late brace, firing in her first after a lovely link-up with Hayman, and adding the fifth with a fine finish after being set up by new signing Summer Roberts.

Fulham Women are now second in the table after promotion rivals Worthing thrashed long-time pacesetters Millwall Lionesses 4-1. The Whites are back in action next Sunday when they travel to Hastings in the League Cup.
