Fulham have held informal talks with FC Twente after the possibility of signing defender Joshua Brenet after becoming frustrated by a lack of progress in their proposed move for Cedric Soares, according to the Daily Express.

Dutch international Brenet, who won back to back Eredivisie titles with PSV Eindhoven earlier in his career, is keen to play in the Premier League and has turned down other offers earlier this month in order to try and secure a move to England. The 28 year-old full back has scored three goals in sixteen league appearances this season for Twente and fits the profile of the attacking right back that Marco Silva is seeking in January.

Fulham are keen to add cover for Kenny Tete before the end of the transfer window after summer signing Kevin Mbabu’s disappointing start to life at Craven Cottage. They had been priced out of a move for Roma’s Rik Karsdorp before seeming set to sign Cedric, who is Silva’s preferred target, but the Whites are exploring alternatives due to the protracted nature of the negotiations with the Gunners.
