Fulham are mulling over a move for Torino midfielder Saša Lukic, according to a report from the Athletic’s Peter Rutzler this evening.

Marco Silva is keen to supplement his central midfield resources before the end of the transfer window and, with Fulham open to offers for Josh Onomah, further bodies will be required should injuries or suspensions strike Joao Palhinha or Harrison Reed. Serbian international Lukic has emerged as an alternative to Everton’s Abdoulaye Doucoure, whose high wage demands seem to have scuppered a deal in this window.

The 26 year-old midfielder can play either as a sitting midfielder, as a more box-to-box operator in the engine room or in the number ten role and has featured eighteen times for Torino in Serie A this term, scoring three goals. He has 35 caps for his country and represented Serbia in the World Cup last winter alongside Fulham forward Aleksandar Mitrovic. Lukic came through the Partizan Belgrade youth set-up, making his professional debut in 2015 helping Partizan win the Serbian title and lift the Serbian Cup the following season.

He had made just 33 senior appearances for Partizan – having gained senior experience on loan at Teleoptik as he helped them starve off relegations – before signing for Torino in 2016. He has made 161 appearances for Torino, scoring fourteen goals, and spent a season with Spanish side Levante on loan.
