Marco Silva hailed Fulham’s late win over Southampton at Craven Cottage this afternoon as ‘a big result’.
The Whites grabbed all three points thanks to Joao Palhinha’s header two minutes from time after James Ward-Prowse’s fine free-kick called out Andreas Pereira’s deflected opener.
The Fulham head coach told his post-match press conference:
“A big, big result for us, definitely. A big three points for us. It was a tough match and we expected a tough match, despite their position in the table.
We have to be realistic and I am realistic in this type of situation. We are a really ambitious club, we know our reality and the type of competition we are playing against and the teams we are playing against. We are not in the position to change one word of our target and our goals this season. We have to keep our feet on the ground to prepare for the next one the best we can.”
Not a great performance by Fulham but it’s really encouraging to win games at this level without playing well or relying on Mitro. Ive watched Fulham since 1961 and I can’t remember a calendar year that’s been so successful and where the football has been so exciting. Thanks to the whole squad and Marco and his team. The Khans continue to be supportive and progressive owners. We are lucky to support such a friendly and historic club.
Everything about Silva is top quality. His positive but realistic attitude, style of football, ability to improve players, media interviews etc etc. I just hope we all understand that staying up and building again would be an amazing achievement. It’s nice to dream but if Marco keeps us up then it’s 10/10. How he has helped the players step up is something else! We still have a couple of areas we have no cover. If we can get a defensive midfielder and forward in we’re really in business. We look a more attractive prospect to players now so fingers crossed. COYWs
