Harrison Reed admits he is ‘itching to get going again’ as Fulham finish their final preparations for the Premier League restart at Crystal Palace on Boxing Day.
The all-action midfielder has been one of the stars of the season so far as Marco Silva’s side have surprised the pre-season predictions by rising to ninth in the top flight table before the winter break for the World Cup.
Reed told Fulham’s official website earlier today:
“I’m buzzing. It’s been a bit of a while, had a had little break, but we’ve been back to it – working really heard with the boys and the manager’s got us really focused and ready for Boxing Day.”
The tenacious midfielder has had to wait longer than his team-mates to get back to action, having been a frustrated spectator after being ruled out of the agonising defeat at the hands of Manchester United in November through suspension.
“It was a frustrating one for me – a fixture I look forward to, obviously being a United fan when I was young and to see the way game ended as well. I was in the Riverside watching it. I was feeling what the fans were feeling. I felt like we performed really well, especially in the second half. It is just little moments in the game that are not going our way – we’ve spoken about that and it is something that we can improve on.”
Reed reckons Fulham will attack the London derby at Palace on Monday with the confidence they’ve shown already this season.
“I’m itching to get back now. It almost feels like the start of a new season. I think I can speak for everybody to say we are all itching to get going again. Palace are a very good team, always a tough place to go to at Selhurst Park and obviously a good atmosphere. We’re really looking forward to it, can’t wait to get going again.”
