Fulham forward Aleksandar Mitrovic has received his second Golden Ball after being recognised as Serbia’s best footballer in 2022 by his country’s football association.

Serbia’s record goalscorer, who also received the accolade after firing Fulham to promotion in 2018, scored eight times for his country this year. They included the stoppage-time header in Lisbon that clinched Serbia’s place at the World Cup finals and condemned Portugal to the play-offs as well as two goals in Qatar against Cameroon and Switzerland.

Fulham’s number nine fired in 43 goals in 44 Championship games last season to break the post-war second tier goalscoring record and has stepped up impressive since Marco Silva’s side joined the top flight, with his late header at Selhurst Park on Monday making in ten goals in thirteen appearances.
