A disappointed Joao Palhinha insisted that the ‘better team didn’t win’ after Fulham were beaten by a last-gasp goal from Alejandro Garnacho despite dominating the second half against Manchester United.
Palhinha, who is now heading to the World Cup with Portugal, was named man of the match for another peerless performance in midfield. The former Sporting midfielder won nine tackles in a commanding display, but was hurting after the Whites were beaten at the death for the second week in succession. He told Sky Sports after the final whistle:
“No words can explain what me and my teammates feel in this moment. We are really disappointed with the result because I think we deserved to win this game. We did our best and we didn’t deserve this result. But we need to keep strong. When you play a team like United, you know you need to be concentrated for the whole 90 minutes. It’s the little details, you know?
In the last minute, like against City. It’s really disappointing. We will keep fighting and give our best for the rest of the season. Football is like this, sometimes the best team doesn’t win.”
Palhinha was absolutely magnificent. The only advice I can give him going forward is make sure he injures Vinicius in training because he is totally and utterly out of his depth. Play anyone up there, James with pace, BDR, a false 9, anyone else. I know there aren’t many options but I was surprised he came out for the 2nd half. How he stayed on the pitch for the full game is beyond me. I don’t want to be negative be ause everything we’ve done this season has been above and beyond, but, this guy needs to go
I fully concur about Vinicius with him in the team it is like playing with 10 men, anyone would have been better a Youth team player or even Duffy who can at least head a ball.If we had played anyone else we would have won as Palhinha sayswe were the better team.
Palhina was brilliant but our defence didn’t shut their attack down for their second goal they retreated and not one of them put in a tackle they stood and watched, we need a good right back and another central defender and striker as Vinicius isn’t good enough when Mitro is injured, I hope we can get them in the January window.
Palhinnha was a MONSTER against MU!!! My fear is that sharks will be circling him any time soon…
Palinha was a different class to anything and any opposition we have played so far can anyone name a better player in that position I cant all the so called pundits are Saying he would look better in a Man Utd Shirt or a Liverpool shirt or Chelsea shirt why because they are Jealous hes defineately the best signing together with Perreira and Leno we have made we need a few more quality signings with these guys and who knows What the future will be, I have a feeling this will be Fulham’s time And could be a Special Time for Fulham now the So called big clubs have no Devine right to win things and this is what riles these pundits they don’t like clubs like Fulham succeeding with Palinha,Perreira Leno,Diop,Little Reedy,Mitro and others
