Fulham under 21 captain Ollie O’Neill has been nominated for the PL2 player of the month award after enjoying a magnificent November.
The Irish under-21 international, who was also the shortlist for the award after starring on the Whites’ return to the top flight in August, scored five goals in five league games and also contributed four assists as Steve Wigley’s side continued to climb up the table. The Ealing-born midfielder, operating out wide for most of the season so far, signed a new contract at Craven Cottage in the summer after turning down interest from West Ham and Tottenham Hotspur as well as a number of European sides.
O’Neill, still only 19, is currently the league’s leading goalscorer and also tops the assists chart after a storming start to the season. For the player month of the award, he is up against Chelsea’s Omari Hutchinson, Blackburn forward Harry Leonard, the Everton midfield man Charlie Whittaker, Manchester United’s Shola Shoretire, Ateef Konate of Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United’s Joe White.
