Marco Silva has demanded that Fulham hit his high standards against Aston Villa tomorrow night.
The Portuguese head coach was disappointed with the defensive errors that cost the Whites two points against Bournemouth at Craven Cottage on Saturday – and told his pre-match press conference this afternoon that his charges will have to cut out those mistakes.
“It is a very good challenge, a tough challenge that we play against a very good team with high quality individual players around all the pitch. And, of course, because of that we have to perform at our best level. If we want really to get the three points we have to perform at our best level, and some of the things that we did last game in a very good way, we have to keep doing.
Of course, there are other things that we must improve clearly, the way we started last time, all those situations would be better for us to improve, to give the right steps to be stronger as a team. And if we perform at our best level to avoid certain types of mistakes, of course we are able to win the match.
Silva expects Villa to pose a serious test – despite pressure mounting on manager Steven Gerrard.
“We analysed them, we know what they’re capable of. I know that, from an individual point of view, they have really high quality. Most of the game they controlled a team like Chelsea. They were really dangerous in all the moments they arrived in the final third, and showed their quality. Of course we know their strengths, we know some weaknesses that we should exploit as well, and we are ready for tomorrow’s match.”
The one thing we know of Silva’s team is they are going to try to win the game. They’re going to back themselves to play football and try to dominate the game….and for that reason alone I’m proud to support the boys. The second half we totally dominated Bournemouth. We just needed a little bit more luck and quality in the box and we’d have got the winner. There’s no way we won’t win games playing like we did in the second half. I think the boys will have sorted out the 1st half mistakes. We had the bodies back but just didn’t pick up their players for the goals. It looked like we were marking space rather than picking up players. I’m sure Silva’s sorted that. Win tomorrow and we’re back on track. I fully expect us to win this one. COYW
Let’s get behind Silva’s Black and White Army and support them!!
Let’s grab that little bit of luck that has been slipping through our fingers…!!!
