Marco Silva was full of praise for what was almost the perfect Fulham performance against Everton last night – only for the Whites to fail to find a winning goal to reward their dominance.

The hosts laid siege to the Everton goal in the second half – having 26 shots in total across the ninety minutes – but found both Jordan Pickford in fantastic form and their own finishing wanting. Silva told his post-match press conference:

“I’m disappointed, but just because of the result. The feeling of our players is that they deserved clearly much more from the game, and they didn’t get what they deserve. But I’m proud of them and pleased with the way we played. A very good performance from ourselves again. We clearly deserved the three points, we were the best team on the pitch by far.

“[We were] always on the front foot, getting the ball in our offensive half. Second half we completely pushed them back, I don’t remember one moment around our penalty area. The way we pushed them back to create chances and chances and chances, our reaction when we lost the ball was almost perfect during the second half, the way we regained the ball again, great reaction from our boys, not just João, not just Harrison, the most offensive players as well.

It’s not easy to do what we did this evening against Everton, a good side. Unfortunately for us, we weren’t clinical. We should have scored two or three goals because we were creative, and this is the main thing for us. If we keep going in this way, more goals will come for us because we are creating. We have shown the desire, the quality to create chances and on a normal night the goals will come again.”
