Fulham full back Marlon Fossey will have a medical with Standard Liege tomorrow ahead of a proposed permanent move to the Belgian outfit.
The American defender, now 23, has long been considered an outstanding member of Fulham’s academy but persistent injuries have derailed his progress. Fossey, who has been on Fulham’s books since the age of ten, impressed whilst making eighteen appearances on loan at Bolton Wanderers last term but his spell with the Trotters was cut short by a serious knee injury. He finally made his Fulham debut as a right winger in the League Cup defeat at Crawley last month but has been keen to secure regular football and the Whites have agreed a deal in principle with Standard Liege over a potential sale.
Standard Liege, currently ninth in the Pro League after a hard-fought win against Oostende yesterday, would have until Tuesday when the Belgian transfer window closes to complete the signing of the former American under-20 international.
Good business. It’s been clear for years he’s never going to kick a ball for the first team except in early cup rounds, so definitely best for him to look elsewhere, and better for us to get a fee for him than keep loaning him out until he goes for free.
If its the right decision then let him go. Bearing in mind some we let go do go on to better things Dan Burn and Matt O’Reilly although these two wanted to leave.
