Fulham forward Kieron Bowie has been rewarded for his fine form on loan at Northampton with a call-up to the Scottish under-21 squad.

The nineteen year-old, who has made a real impression since breaking into the Cobblers’ starting line-up, will miss Northampton’s meeting with Stockport County at Sixfields on September 24 – and could also be absent for a Football League Trophy clash against Cambridge United on Saturday 20 September.

The former Raith Rovers forward will hope to make the most of his first call-up to Scott Gemmill’s squad. The Scots will face Northern Ireland in their opening European Championship qualifier at the Danny Blanchflower before a return fixture in Paisley is played on September 25.
