Kieron Bowie opened his Scotland under 21s account this afternoon as his side beat Northern Ireland 3-1 in Belfast.

The Fulham forward, on loan at Northampton Town this season, opened the scoring with a superb header that beat Dermot Mee from a set-piece with ten minutes remaining in the first half. Bowie’s Fulham team-mate Conor McAvoy made his debut at this level and did brilliantly to clear off the line with the game still scoreless after Dale Taylor had chipped Kieran Slicker. After Bowie’s header, Liverpool teenager Ben Doak doubled the Scots’ lead and Josh Mulligan made it 3-0.

You can watch Bowie’s brilliant header below:

Chris McKee scored a late consolation for Northern Ireland, with Ross McCausland having an effort scrambled off the line in the closing seconds. The two teams will face each other again in another friendly in Paisley on Sunday. Bowie has scored twice in ten appearances for Northampton this season with the Cobblers currently sitting in third in the League Two table.
