We’d like to introduce you to a new project we’ve been working since the last lockdown.

The Green Pole is a chat between our contributors on what’s happening at Fulham Football Club. As a Zoom discussion, it was tremendously helpful for me during the omicron variant – where I wasn’t able to attend Craven Cottage or any football at all. We thought we’d try and bring it to a wider audience for Fulham’s return to the top flight in memory of three Fulham fans who are not able to watch Marco Silva’s side any more.

We sadly lost Tony Fisher at the start of last season and Paul Parish during it. You’ll never be able to tell me that their passing and the sublime football that we produced to win the Championship were not linked in some small, perhaps, spiritual way. Last week would have been Danny Fullbrook’s birthday. The Daily Star’s chief football correspondent – a larger than life character and a huge Fulham fan – lost his battle with cancer a decade ago. He was a massive supporter of this website in the early days.

The Green Pole always marked the meeting point for Fulham’s most vociferous fans during the dark days. We present the first episode in memory of Tony, Paul, Danny and all the other members of the Fulham family who we have lost in recent years. Apologies for the spotty sound quality but hopefully the words of wisdom from Tommy and Olly more than make up for my own ramblings.
