Fulham Women finished off their unbeaten pre-season with a comprehensive 6-2 win that featured six separate scorers at Ascot Ladies yesterday afternoon.

Steve Jaye’s side took the lead in the eighth minute when Becky Stormer converted Tia Foreman’s corner, but the Whites were pegged back by an Ascot equaliser seven minutes later. Ilana Harris-Walters continued her sensational summer of stepping up from the under-18s with an incredible individual to set Georgia Heasman to restore the visitors’ lead, but Ascot levelled again within three minutes.

The hosts were handed a great chance to take chance to take the lead themselves from the penalty spot but Edie Kelly made a splendid save. Harris-Walters went straight up the other end to put Fulham in front and the Whites were determined not to let their advantage slip this time. Lily Lambird gave them a bit more breathing space by calmly converting a penalty to make it 4-2.

The Londoners were in control throughout most of a competitive second half and made victory more emphatic in the final five minutes with two strikes from substitutes. New signing Charmaine True grabbed her first goal since signing from Portsmouth before the returning Katie Foster added a sixth with three minutes to play.

Fulham kick off their push for promotion at Sutton United next Sunday afternoon.
