Kevin Mbabu has passed his Fulham medical this afternoon – bringing his proposed move from Wolfsburg to Craven Cottage even closer.

The Swiss international right back travelled to Portugal to join up with the Cottagers’ first team squad after the Whites finally agreed the structure of a deal that could rise to around £6m for the 27 year-old. Mbabu, who had dropped extravagant wage demands to ensure that a return to the Premier League was possible, underwent extensive physical tests this weekend during Fulham’s pre-season tour and formalities in London on Monday are all that stand between Marco Silva and a third signing of the summer.

The former Newcastle full back made thirty appearances for Wolfsburg last term and is seen as ideal competition for the injury-prone Kenny Tete. Silva was keen to add depth at right back after last season’s loan star Neco Williams joined Nottingham Forest for £17m earlier this summer.
