Fulham have agreed an initial fee of around £4.8m with Wolfsburg for their Swiss international right back Kevin Mbabu, according to various reports.

The Whites, who had two previous offers rebuffed for the 27 year-old defender, moved to close the deal after failing to match Lyon’s valuation for Leo Dubois. Mbabu, who is eager to return to England having previously played for Newcastle, will now fly to London to discuss personal terms with the Premier League new boys.

Mbabu, who has won 22 caps at senior level for Switzerland, made 82 appearances for Wolfsburg, scoring three goals, since moving to Germany from Young Boys in July 2019. The attacking right back was part of a Young Boys side that won back-to-back Swiss titles, initially ending a drought stretching back more than three decades. He made 31 appearances with Wolfsburg last term – including six Champions’ League games – scoring a single goal.
