Joao Palhinha has verbally agreed to join Fulham after discussions with his former manager Marco Silva, according to Record.

Silva, who coached the Portuguese defensive midfielder when Palhinha was coming through the Lisbon club’s ranks during his single season at Sporting in 2014/2015, has convinced the 26 year-old to pick Craven Cottage as his Premier League destination despite Wolves appearing to hold the upper hand in this transfer duel.

The Portuguese paper is confident that Fulham will now conclude a deal to bring the 6ft 3in enforcer to SW6 after agreement over an acceptable offer was reached between the clubs following intense negotiations over the past week. Palhinha, who has won fourteen senior caps for his country, starred as Sporting won the domestic double in 2021 – when he was voted into the Primeira Liga team of the year.
